Committee of Associate Deans (Research)

The Committee of Associate Deans (Research), chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), was established in 2008 to: 

  1. Provide an effective channel for communication, development and implementation of University research strategy between Faculties and the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).
  2. Provide advice to Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) on the implications of major Government initiatives in research policy and funding and their budget implications, and recommend changes to University strategic positioning, policy or procedures.
  3. Co-ordinate and facilitate the advice of specialist committees on compliance with statutory requirements in the areas of animal experimentation and welfare, human research and biohazards, and research integrity, and through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) report any compliance recommendations to the Academic Board and to Senior Executive.
  4. Monitor and review implementation of the new Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
  5. Receive reports from, and keep under review the terms of reference and membership of the committees that report through it.
  6. Identify opportunities for major, new cross-disciplinary research initiatives.
