Managing approved projects
It is essential that research conducted over the life of a project conforms with the original Conditions of Approval. This section identifies mechanisms that promote compliance in the ongoing management of projects. Supervisors also have a role in monitoring student research. Monitoring occurs both centrally and at department/school level via a range of routine reporting activities. Individual projects can also be the subject of occasional audits, which may involve: inviting researchers to attend meetings to discuss their projects and annual reports; inspecting facilities to see how data is stored and confidentiality maintained; and (subject to consent) contacting individual research participants to hear their experiences.
