Researchers must report immediately to the Executive Officer (Human Research Ethics, University of Melbourne) any serious or unanticipated adverse effects of their research on participants, and unforeseen events that might affect continued ethical acceptability of the project. Projects are also audited to review the way risk and any unexpected outcomes have been managed.Participant complaints
Research participants must be given contact details of a person nominated to receive complaints or concerns about research conduct. Researchers are required to include such details in the Plain Language Statement provided to participants.Participants who have a concern about the conduct of a human research project, which they do not wish to discuss with the research team, should contact: Executive Officer, Human Research Ethics, University of Melbourne, VIC 3010.
