Research income collection (2009 for 2008 data)

Key dates

Why do we collect this data?

The purpose of this collection is to identify the total amount, source and purpose of all external research income received during each calendar year. It is used by the Commonwealth Government to calculate a variety of performance-based funding allocations, including the Institutional Grants Scheme (IGS), the Research Training Scheme (RTS), and the Research Infrastructure Block Grant (RIBG). Research income is also one of the performance parameters used by the University for allocating research-related funds to Faculties. More on University research income streams.

Commonwealth Government funding through the IGS, RTS and RIBG was worth approximately $142 million to the University in 2008. It is therefore vital that we identify and report all relevant research income.
