About our services
The Research Contracts Group comprises staff from the Research Office and from Legal Services. Our services: foster research innovation; protect and manage intellectual property; and help researchers reach robust agreements and forge collaborative links with industry. Our primary responsibilities are:- Review and negotiation of all University research-related contracts and agreements.
- Providing advice on issues such as the costing and pricing of research.
- Aiding collaboration by the development of standard agreements.
- Identification and minimisation of risk in the undertaking of contract research.
- Registering all research agreements in Themis Research.
- Enable the University to complete research-related contract negotiations in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop procedures for entering into research contracts on behalf of the University.
- Provide advice and training in matters relating to intellectual property management, protection and commercialisation.

Financial contract management
Once your contact is signed and registered in Themis Research, your department administrator will issue invoices and receive deliverables and other notifications from Themis.
For any additional financial queries or support, contact your Faculty Client Services Accountants (CSA) located in Financial Operations. They will advise you on ongoing financial contract management issues, and will tell you when a Project Account has been created.
