Multi-institution agreements (ARC and NHMRC)
- ARC DP Multi-Institution Agreement
- ARC LIEF Multi-Institution Agreement
- NHMRC Project Multi-institution Agreement (TBA)
When the University of Melbourne is the administering institution:
- All Chief Investigators on the grant must agree on the dispersal of funds between institutions.
- The first named Chief Investigator should enter the relevant details on the Multi-institution Agreement (including the distribution of funding) and forward to the Melbourne Research Office (MRO).
- MRO will obtain signatures from collaborating institutions and the University?s authorised signatory.
When the University is NOT the administering institution:
- All Chief Investigators on the grant must agree on the dispersal of funds between institutions.
- The leading Chief Investigator at The University of Melbourne should request a Collaborative Agreement from the first named Chief Investigator on the project.
- The leading Chief Investigator at The University of Melbourne should forward the Multi-institution Agreement to MRO together with copy of the grant application, the letter of award and confirmation that any share of funding is correct. MRO will review the agreement and obtain the signature of the University?s authorised signatory.
- When the agreement is executed by all parties, MRO will request Financial Operations open an account for the project. This will allow departments to accurately record total research income for the purpose of infrastructure funding.
Exceptions
When ARC Linkage Project grants are awarded, MRO negotiates Linkage Agreements with Partner Organisations. MRO will also take the lead in negotiating the involvement of other institutions collaborating in the project. Chief Investigators will be asked to provide details of any shared funding and any other important negotiating matters.
When a Go8 University is not the administering institution the Multi-institution Agreement may not be based on the standard template. In this case it is even more important that the agreement is reviewed by MRO.
