Case studies and worked examples
Case studies
The case studies describe situations that are typically faced by researchers and administrative staff when preparing budgets for research grants or contracts. The solutions offered are not necessarily the sole solutions, but they represent optimal outcomes that are compliant with University policy.
Worked examples
The worked examples represent more complex scenarios related to the preparation of research grant and contract budgets. They emphasise the importance of calculating draft budgets as early as possible in the process of scoping a project, and the value of calculating indirect costs even if these are not a specific requirement of the costing process. The also demonstrate the importance of being compliant with grantor funding rules.
